When you think back on your wedding day, the moments that stick with you aren’t always the perfectly posed portraits or the staged group shots. More often than not, it’s the hug you shared with your maid of honor, the tear that slipped down your dad’s cheek during the ceremony, or the way your partner looked at you when they thought no one was watching. That’s the beauty of candid photography, it captures the moments that are truly unique to you!

What Are Candid Wedding Photos?
Candid photos are unposed, unscripted moments that happen naturally throughout your wedding. Unlike traditional posed photos, they’re full of emotion, movement, and real connection. They’re the quiet in-between glances, the spontaneous laughter, the joy that bubbles over when you're finally married. Every photo highlighted in this post is a candid moment.
Because they are unscripted and unprompted they can also be a little imperfect. Candid photos aren’t about perfection. And in my opinion there is where the beauty lies. You might see a bit of motion blur from a dance move, a tear streaked face mid-cry, or wind blown hair covering half a smile. But those little “imperfections” are exactly what make the image feel alive. They're not staged, filtered, or overly polished. They are real.
And real is what you'll want to remember.
When you look back at your wedding album, there is a good chance that the moment that takes your breath away are the moments that are unexpectedly captured. That’s the beauty of candid photography: it embraces the messy, magical truth of your wedding day and turns it into art.

Why Candid Moments Matter
Candid photos tell the true story of your day—not the version you rehearsed or planned, but the one that unfolded in real time. They remind you how it felt to be there. Years from now, those little, unscripted moments will take you back in a way no posed photo ever could.

My Approach to Candids
As a photographer, my goal is to blend in to your day. I focus on observation over direction, watching for genuine reactions and being ready to click the shutter at just the right second. Whether it’s kids twirling on the dance floor or a quiet moment during golden hour, I aim to preserve your memories as they naturally happen.

Tips for Getting More Candid Photos
Trust your photographer. When you’re relaxed and not worried about the camera, magic happens.
Be present. Let go of perfection and soak in each moment of your day.
Limit interruptions. Fewer announcements and rigid timelines make room for more organic memories.
Choose a photographer whose style is documentary or storytelling based. (Hi, that’s me!)
Your wedding does not have to be a photoshoot. It’s a day full of love, joy, and beautifully imperfect moments. Candid photography celebrates that. If you're planning a wedding here in Central Florida, I'd love to help you tell your story, unscripted and full of heart.
