There’s just something about backyard weddings that hit differently. Maybe it’s the way the sunlight filters through the trees you climbed as a kid. Maybe it’s the comfort of getting ready in your childhood bedroom. Or maybe it’s knowing that the place where you’re saying your vows has already been part of your story, and now it gets to be part of your future too.

Backyard weddings are personal. They’re intimate. And honestly? They’re often more fun. There’s often less pressure, more personality, and a whole lot of room for creativity. You can skip the formalities that don’t feel like you, and lean into what does, whether that’s a BBQ reception, twinkle lights strung across the fence, or your dog walking down the aisle.

As a photographer, these weddings are my favorite to capture. The love is real. The moments are raw.
